Choose how many paragraphs and how many sentences in each, and get placeholder text for a mock-up. The text is deliberately repeatable: ask for the same thing twice and you get the same words, so when you compare two versions of a layout the only difference is the one you made. Generators that reach for a random number produce different filler each time, which turns a design review into a spot-the-difference puzzle.

On purpose. Placeholder text exists to be looked past, and if it changes on every click then two screenshots of the same layout no longer line up. With a fixed sequence you can regenerate, paste again, and know that any visible change came from your design rather than from the filler.
It is the traditional lorem ipsum wordlist, a garbled passage of Latin that printers have used as filler since the sixteenth century, drawn originally from a work of Cicero from 45 BC. It is long out of copyright, which is why it has outlived every alternative.
Yes. By default the first paragraph starts with the familiar "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" because clients and colleagues recognise it as placeholder at a glance. Untick it and the text starts somewhere else in the wordlist, which is better when you want the block to read as ordinary body copy.
Fifty paragraphs and twenty sentences each. Past that the browser is doing more work than a layout ever needs, and the point of the tool is to fill a design rather than to produce a document.
